"Splash- the art and craft club" at IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) organized the Madhubani Painting Workshop on INDIAN CULTURE for students with an artistic and creative mindset. Madhubani Painting Workshop, held on 7th March, was a vibrant celebration of creativity and cultural expression. The event brought together artists and enthusiasts to showcase their talent in the traditional Indian art form of Madhubani art also known as Mithila art. The competition not only served as a platform for artists to display their artistic prowess but also fostered a sense of community and appreciation for the rich cultural heritage embedded in Madhubani art. The workshop was held on 7th March 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at the Mini Auditorium. The session was conducted by Ms. Payal Jha, an esteemed resource person with expertise in Madhubani art. The primary objective of the workshop was to introduce students to the traditional Indian folk-art form of Madhubani painting, fostering creativity, cultural appreciation, and artistic skills among the participants.


The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Nidhi srivastava, who ensured smooth execution of the event. She expressed her appreciation for the participants' enthusiasm and encouraged them to explore and preserve traditional art forms. She also thanked Ms. Payal Jha for her valuable contribution and engaging presentation. Ms. Payal Jha guided the participants through the intricate patterns, themes, and color compositions that define this art form. The workshop was interactive, allowing students to practice different styles and techniques under expert supervision.


Key aspects covered in the workshop included:

  • The origins and cultural significance of Madhubani art.

  • Various styles and motifs used in Madhubani painting, such as flora, fauna, mythological themes, and geometric patterns.

  • Hands-on painting session where participants created their own Madhubani artwork.

  • The use of natural colors and fine brushwork to maintain authenticity.


The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who showcased their creativity through their unique interpretations of Madhubani paintings. Over 50 students actively engaged in the session, demonstrating keen interest and artistic talent.


The Madhubani Painting Workshop was a resounding success, offering students an opportunity to explore and appreciate a traditional Indian art form. The event not only enhanced their artistic skills but also deepened their understanding of India's cultural heritage. The session concluded with Ms. Payal Jha appreciating the students' efforts and encouraging them to continue practicing and promoting traditional art forms.

  • Engaging in a Madhubani Painting workshop promoted the preservation of cultural heritage as participants learned and contributed to the continuation of this traditional art form.
