"Let us make our future now, and let us make our dreams tomorrow's reality": Malaya Yousafzai
With this note to welcome our future scientists and bio-entrepreneurs, IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus organized 'Prarambh-2018' a week long Orientation Program from 20-25th August 2018 for the new entrants of B.Sc. (Honors) Biotechnology, Microbiology and M.Sc. Biotechnology.
Essentially, the Orientation Program was designed to welcome the new students and their families into the IMS academia and to introduce them IMS philosophy and culture. After academic reporting, the day started with gala inauguration ceremony of the event. Dr. Sapna Rakesh, Director welcomed the Chief Guest Prof. S.K. Kak (Founder Vice Chancellor of Mahamaya Technical University Noida and Former Vice Chancellor, CCS University, Meerut) and Guest Of Honour Prof. Y. Vimala (Dean Science and Dean Student Welfare, CCS University, Meerut) and Prof. J.K. Thakur (Scientist V, National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi). Dr. Sapna Rakesh inspired the students to take on this world by means of Science and Technology and she also implored them to become responsible citizens of the world by contributing to the well-being of the society.
Prof. S.K. Kak addressed the students and encouraged them to capitalize the available resources to create new avenues of research. He advised to all for not setting the limits on knowledge but to set goals in their life and work towards those goals passionately. He blessed to students to have the wisdom, power and the passion to create a new world.
Prof. Y. Vimala also gave her blessings to the new entrants and spoke about her experiences. She encouraged the students to discover more about themselves and. the natural world around. She implored the students to explore new ideas and approach challenges with a smile
Prof. J.K. Thakur Scientist V, National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi introduced the audience to the World of Biotechnology. He exemplified his own research work and encouraged the students to pose questions and take a logical step to solve those problems through science.
In the second session of the day the Program Chairperson, Dr. Abha Vashistha, welcomed the students and gave a brief overview of the Bioscience courses and the handbook. This was followed by a very invigorating 'All in one family Session' where the faculty and staff introduced themselves to the students and enriched the session with their own experiences This was followed by special 'E-Cell Sensitization Session' conducted by Dr. Nidhi Srivastava who talked about an insight of entrepreneurship, challenges ahead and how E cell at IMS can help to bring out the entrepreneur in them.
At the end of this session the new students shared their experiences of the day with everyone in an interactive session.
