SPARDHA 2019

"A champion is someone who gets up, even when he can't"

As an integral part of academic system, sports are generally recognised as system of activities, which serves to ensure fair competition with great zeal and full of enthusiasm. Keeping the same tradition IMS Ghaziabad university courses campus has been organizing sports fest SPARDHA from last 8 years. This year IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) organized its SPARDHA 2019- Annual sports fest on 8th & 9th March 2019.

Day 1 has captured event like athletics (including 100,200,400,800 and 1500M race, 400M relay race, high jump, discus throw, shot- put), kho-kho, volleyball, tug of war and cricket. Knock out matches for the same have already been conducted in past 4 days. The Institute promotes excellence in learning and holistic development of students, which is not possible without sports. This year SPARDHA 2019, witnessed the huge participation of students from all programs ( BBA,BCA,BJMC,Biosciences,MIB) in various games like Volley ball, Cricket, Tug of War, kho-kho and Athletics (100 M, 200 M, 400 M,800 M,1500 M, 400 M Relay) Shot put, discus throw and High Jump. The institute has lush green ground and state of art infrastructure for all kinds of indoor and outdoor activities, which was further strengthened by organising the sports activities throughout the year.

Day 2, 9th March 2019



"Sports inspires us to compete winning over losing is much sweeter, we do it because we love the game, life without sports would not be same."
With this enthusiasm and zeal Day 2 of Spardha 2019 started with 100M race for faculty our Male and female faculty shown a keen interest and participated in the race among which Mr. Vijay Shukla and Ms. Prarthana Goel bagged the 1st position . The next event was Sack Race in which many faculty members participated with full spirit and again Mr Vijay Shukla secured the 1st position. Now one of the most enlivened sport i.e. Lemon Race has started in which again Mr Vijay Shukla from male faculty grabbed the 1st position and there was a tie between Mrs Sandhya Sharma and Mrs Akriti for first position.

The Valedictory commenced at 11:20 am with National anthem. This was followed by the welcome of panel of guests, Chief Guest Sri Anil Aggarwal (member of parliament from BJP) is also the vice president of district Olympic association Ghaziabad, and Guest of Honour Mr. Maninder Pal Singh (cricket coach of Sports Authority of India) also trained M.S Dhoni under his guidance. Sri Anil Aggarwal was felicitated with an eco-friendly sapling Mr. Rakesh Chharia, Treasurer, IMS Group of Institutions. Mr. Maninder Pal Singh was felicitated with an eco-friendly sapling Dr. Sapna Rakesh, Director, IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus. In her welcome address Director IMS Ghaziabad university courses campus Dr. Sapna Rakesh addressed the gathering by her motivational word and highlighted that some of the students of IMS are representing the country at various international Events and Tournaments.

Guest of honour "Mr. Maninder Pal singh" grace the dais and shared his experience and views among the students and informed students about the app named- "KHELO INDIA" and provided all details for the same. Chief Guest Sri. Anil Aggarwal encouraged and inspired the youth with his valuable experience and also told government plans to promote sports across the nation. All the dignitaries release the pigeons and balloons to mark the beginning of day's event, symbolizing them floating adrift. Ceremonial torch lighting started the athletic events of the day. With this note our first event begun i.e. 100 m race for both boys and girls and the final race of 200 m. The selected students from both the category (boys and girls) competed with each other to grab the positions.

Students from our institution who represented and did remarkable performance in their respective sports at national as well as international level were felicitated by the dignitaries. Tushar Sehgal, Riya Sinha, Sahil Tyagi, Naman Chauhan, Siddarth Vashishth, Partha Sharma, Mahima attreya are who have been felicitated.

Uncertainty can be creative, alluring and awe-inspiring keeping this in mind some of our students of our institutions performed a flash mob to motivate and encourage as well as to change the mood of participants as well as audience. Finals of several sports events such as 400m, 800m, relay race, tug of war took place which added to the enjoyment. The list of participants and the position holders of both days is attached for reference.

In the closing ceremony of the Annual Sports Fest Dr. Suman Kumar was called upon the stage for Vote of Thanks where he thanked the students for participating in such a huge number and also thanked the coordinators of the event and marked the conclusion of this year edition of SPARDHA.
