news Topic TO-BE JOURNALISTS SPEAK UP ABOUT JOURNALISM
Date & Day 22nd January, 2016

IMS School of Journalism and Mass Communication organised a debate for the newbie journalists in the class itself. The fresher batch discussed their views on a topic “Role of journalism in modern society.”

Journalism plays a vital role in all the fields. A journalist is a bridge between a common man and the ruling body. He has a responsibility towards the society. It is meant for the betterment of the people of any country. This question arises because the current situation of media is very uncertain. The word commercialisation has entered in the dictionary of journalism.

One of the student quoted a famous line said by Mahatma Gandhi “The sole aim of journalism is service.” Which is very correctly said but in today’s generation the service factor has vanished. Associate professor Mr Anil Nigam enlightened the students about both the faces of journalism in today’s time. While students kept their views on either positive or negative aspects of today’s journalism. The students got a fire in them to speak, question and oppose on certain topics given to them.
