MIB ORIENTATION DAY- 5

Session -1
Personality Profiling & Writing Proficiency


The Fifth day of MIB Orientation Program 2018-'Upakrama' at IMS Ghaziabad-University Courses Campus, focused on knowing the personality traits of all the students. The session was based on important profiling tools such as personality types, learning styles, interpersonal needs and SWOT analysis. All the participants developed a great deal of interest, while discovering their behavior, thinking pattern and professional writing skills. Ms. Priyanka Sadhna, Chairperson CDC along with team members Dr. Deepa Goel and Ms. Raunak Bhardwaj assisted the students to develop broader understanding of personal attributes, in order to reduce conflicts and improve decision making skills. The profiling also helped the students to know one's own set of strengths, goals and the areas of improvement. This psychometric analysis acted an eye opener session, which in turn triggered the students to start working on the areas requiring immediate attention. The profiling helped the students in the following areas:

Self awareness
Motivational cues
Interpersonal skills
Suitable career avenues
Learning styles
Dealing with conflict

Session- 2

The CRC department of IMS UC campus invited Mr. Prashant Verma, VP-HR & Strategy, Disney Itoys to interact with the newly inducted batch of MIB programme. Mr. Verma is a true p passionate person who is striving to add value to the society of human resource.As an expert in the field of strategy, HR and people management he provided insight into the field and spoke on employability and skill gap while hiring the fresher from any discipline. He started his session by explaining about the GOAL Clarity and how one has to focus and achieve that. Industry loves and wants people who have wonderful attitude to work, ready to take ownership & responsibility for their work and a good team player. He also emphasized that how Good Communication is important in our life and at the same time one has to be a good listener. Mr. Verma also shared some very good case studies with the students and explained how critical situation can be handled with the focused mind set. The session further covered with upcoming trends in the industry and various career related queries from the students were addressed. The lecture was received with overwhelming response from students attending the sessions.

Session- 3
"Session on Course Pedagogy"


Course pedagogy session for I year MIB students was conducted by Prof. Abhinav Kataria on 19th July 2018. During the session following points were discussed:
Semester wise course structure and concept to divide the semester in LAPs.
The need and benefits of foundation courses which are included in the orientation program.
Why PGD program merged with MIB course?

During the session some queries of students regarding teaching methodology and University semester system were raised and explained by the speaker satisfactorily. As per students feedback the session was very constructive and fruitful.

Session - 4
"Case based Methods"


In today's scenario, where new teaching pedagogies are being adopted by the institutes to give practical knowledge to the students, Case-based teaching method has proved to be really beneficial in enhancing analytical thinking skills of the students and engaging them in the process of making real world decisions. Keeping this in mind, a case based discussion through movie has been conducted on the fifth day of MIB orientation programme by Dr. Indrani Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor, IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus. A movie titled 'Barbarians at the gate' was shown to the students with the motive to make them understand the concepts of leadership,leverage buy-outs,negotiations,entrepreneurship and brand recognition. All the aspiring managers enjoyed the session and were able to connect these academic topics with real-world societal issues and applications
