School of Biosciences, IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus, in collaboration with Hi-Media had organized a workshop on "Advanced Molecular Techniques" from 12-13th February 2018.
The inaugural session of the workshop had the august presence of Dr. Sapna Rakesh, Director, IMS University courses campus, Mr. Rajender Thakur, Area sales Manager, Hi-Media, Mr. Sachit Chopra, Molecular Biology Product Specialist, Hi-Media and Mr. Arun Singh, Sr. Marketing Officer, Hi-Media. Dr. Sapna Rakesh, congratulated team Hi-Media and School of Biosciences for collaboration and motivated students to participate and learn to best of their capabilities.
Mr. Sachit Chopra, Molecular Biology Product Specialist, Hi-Media interacted with students and shared his knowledge on advanced molecular techniques. Mr. Rajender Thakur, Area sales Manager, Hi-Media briefed the students about Hi-Media company and shared future avenues for biotechnology students. Dr. Abha Vashsistha, program chairperson, School of Biosciences, motivated the students and shared the benefits of practical knowledge over theoretical learning. After the interactive inaugural session, the participants were provided hands on training on isolation of genomic DNA from bacteria, Agarose gel electrophoresis, Polymerase chain reaction and Restriction mapping. There were very interesting discussions during the workshop on use of instruments and getting the desired results.
A quiz was conducted, to evaluate the students, Diksha Srivastava of B.Sc BT IInd bagged first prize, Gunjan Dagur of B.Sc BT IIIrd secured second position and Sunil Dhasmana of B.Sc. BT IInd got third position. Dr. Pooja Rastogi, dean IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) congratulated the students and motivated them to explore new avenues.
This two-day workshop covered both theoretical and practical aspects of advanced molecular techniques. A number of practical sessions were planned for hands-on demonstrations and offered a learning opportunity along with hands on experience and interactive session with industry experts from Hi-Media.
