School of Biosciences, IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus organized a Workshop on "Science Journalism" on 28 th September 2017. This workshop invited Post Graduates and Graduates in science, aspiring to communicate science to the society. The workshop was organised in the research-rich environment of the institution. Dr. Sunita Garg, Emeritus scientist CSIR-NISCAIR, New Delhi was the chief guest of the workshop, she shared her insight and knowledge on science journalism and its importance with the delegates. Director, Dr. Sapna Rakesh, formally inaugurated the workshop and motived delegates to take on emerging roles in the growing scientific enterprise and raised awareness about alternative career options.
The workshop aimed to open up new avenues in science by targeting those who are making a transition from education to scientific careers. The objective was to improve the quality and quantity of reports and features with scientific content in print media. The workshop included presentations, discussions, role-play, hands-on practice, feedback and highly interactive sessions. The focus was on work done as individuals and in teams. More than fifty students from renowned colleges of Delhi, NCR and adjoining areas participated in the workshops to enhance their interpersonal and intergroup interactions skills and were involved in-depth discussions and assignments.
Students as an audience were overwhelmed by the crux of the interaction and came up with multi latitudes of questions, which were clarified by the honourable guest in most interactive manner.
