Launch of the World Water Development Report (WWDR 2018) and Industrial Water Index
ONGC Limited, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Urja Bhawan, New Delhi


On the occasion of 25th World Water Day, it was indeed a pleasure to invited by UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI) along with the UNESCO New Delhi Office, ONGC Limited, and Accenture Strategy for the launch of the World Water Development Report (WWDR 2018) and Industrial Water Index at ONGC Limited, Urja Bhawan, New Delhi on 22nd March 2018.
The event started with welcome address by Mr. D. D. Misra, Director (HR), ONGC Ltd. and Chair-Asia Pacific Resource Centre (APRC), UN Global Compact Network India (GCNI), Mr. Sundeep Singh, Senior Principal, Accenture Strategy, The program was preside by Dr. Ram Boojh, National Programme Officer, Ecological Sciences, UNESCO. In the special address chief guest Mr. Shigeru Aoyagi, Director and UNESCO Representative to India, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka showed his concern on water usage pattern and to identify mitigate measures to address the growing water concern.
Mr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director, UN GCNI proposed vote of thanks to all the stakeholders who participated in the study and expressed his gratitude to the individuals from different industries, education institutes and co partners of the event. With this program students acknowledge the insights and perspectives of the study which help to lay a sound foundation to address the looming water crises that we are facing in India.
The event started with the welcome address of Mr. D D Misra Director (HR), ONGC Ltd. and Chair - Asia Pacific Resource Centre (APRC), UN Global Compact Network India (GCNI). He notified that WWDR is the flagship publication of UN?Water and is designed, prepared and coordinated annually by the World Water Assessment Programme of UNESCO. The WWDR benefits from the guidance, support and substantive inputs from the 31 UN Agencies and 39 partner organizations that comprise UN?Water. Therefore, WWDR is a functional example of the UN system 'delivering as one' in the field of water.
Mr. Sundeep Singh Senior Principal, Accenture Strategy told about water related development goals and targets outlined in sustainable development goals (SDG) framework and key findings of phase I and II reports, he also discussed the SDGs framework related to water risk and the journey so far. After his address the launch of the World Water Development Report (WWDR 2018) and Industrial Water Index was done.
The program was presided by Dr. Ram Boojh National Programme Officer, Ecological Sciences, UNESCO, he discussed the nature based solution through which many problems related to water challenges can be solved. He urged to do more with green infrastructure and harmonize it with grey infrastructure, wherever possible.
In the special address Mr. Shigeru Aoyagi Director and UNESCO Representative to India, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka showed his concern on water usage pattern and to identify mitigate measures to address the growing water concern.
At last Mr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director, UN GCNI proposed vote of thanks to all the stakeholders who participated in the study and expressed his gratitude to the participants from different industries, education institutes and co partners of the event. The program was ended with the pledge that we will do all our efforts to save the single drop of water and will make the earth a better place to live in. With this program students acknowledge the insights and perspectives of the study which help to lay a sound foundation to address the looming water crises that we are facing in India.
