IMS Ghaziabad University Courses organised a seminar on Intellectual Property Rightson December 9, 2016. The seminar was jointly organized by Consortium of Women Entrepreneurs of India (CWEI) and Management Department of IMS Ghaziabad, University Courses Campus. The chief guest of the seminar was Dr. Ms. Shashi Singh, Social Entrepreneur, Gender Specialist, International Consultant - Enterprise Development. The seminar saw a participation of 220 students from BBA, BCA, Bio-Sciences and BJMC. The seminar was inaugurated by the chief guest of the day Dr. Ms. Shashi Singh, Dr. Sapna Rakesh (Director, IMSUC), Dr. Pooja Rastogi, Dean, IMSUC, Dr. Geeti Sharma, Chairperson, Department of Management studies. at 10 am. along with the Chairperson?s of other departments at IMSUC. The seminar focused on Young Entrepreneurs, especially women who could take advantage and understand the importance of IPR, especially in the field of creativity, innovations and traditional sector. The welcome speech was given by Dr.Pooja Rastogi followed by address of Dr. Sapna Rakesh, Director in which she emphasized that IMSUC?s motto is to innovate and excel. She mentioned that such events are the right step in that direction. An Entrepreneur is endowed with multitude of challenges to remain competitive and to sustain the business enterprises. Price competitiveness, human resources, Infrastructure and finance are some of the important issues to be address on the path of business excellence. Dr. Ms. Shashi Singh, Social Entrepreneur, Gender Specialist, International Consultant - Enterprise Development highlighted the importance of IP Tools for the Entrepreneurs. She highlighted that one of the Vital Ingredients for competitiveness is Innovation. Nurturing Innovation & channelizing Innovation into proprietary assets is one of the growing demands in the market. Innovative product and process is the order of the day. To protect these innovations, Intellectual property rights is one of the important tools. The seminar cleared several myths and misconceptions related to patents Attended by over 150 students, the session was an excellent insight into the importance and procedure of obtaining patents for future engineers, scholars and entrepreneurs at IMSUC. Dr. Pooja Rastogi presented the Chief Guest with a memento and delivered the valedictory note followed by Vote of Thanks.
