As the session progressed, the moderator Prof Shenki Tyagi asked Dr Kiran Bedi some questions.

Ques 1When you look back at your journey do you feel that there is anything you would change if you could?

AnswerShe said she could have read more. She wished she had spent more time with her family and kept in touch with her friends. She always had a desire to learn new skills such as musical instruments, cooking. She told the students that they have the time and opportunity to learn and grow, so use it wisely.

Ques 2The work you did in Puducherry speak for 'We' and not 'Me'. So what was it about your tenure in Puducherry that inspired you to write this book?

Answer She said several things were going on in the country that was not in the country's best interest. Corruption was one of them. Correct investments weren't occurring at the right places. She said that many things needed to be corrected and administered. She thinks direct transfers and digital money are good. Specifically, she suggested reading chapter 10 of her book Fearless Governance, which discusses the Raj Niwas and the working style of it along with illustrations that help to explain where her inspiration came from for this book.

Ques 3While in your book you talk about good and bad governance, but you have given it the name 'fearless governance'? Could you explain what it means to you?

AnswerThere were a lot of people who called me Hitler, made cartoons of me and created various distractions so I wouldn't be able to work. But as I mentioned before, everything I do is with passion and dedication, because I have a purpose behind it. The purpose was to end corruption and work for the well-being of the people. All of this was done without fear because power comes with responsibility.

Ques 4If you were to describe Puducherry city in one word, what would it be and why would you choose it?

Answer Her beautiful description of the city is that it is a spiritual and divine city. It is a naturally gifted city that is tranquil, safe, and serene.

Ques 5The 1950s and 1960s were not an era for girls. So during that time were your parents happy to see you in the uniform?

AnswerShe believes that she is molded by her mother and father. They directed, supported, and propelled her at each progression. They gave her vision, education, protection, time, and support for her to develop. She gladly says that she was and is living the dreams of her parents.

Ques 6According to merit at the time, IFS was the first option but you chose to be an IPS officer rather than any other. Why did you choose it?

Answer She never wanted to be away from home. She always felt that foreign travel work is not a duty for her. She wanted to remain close to people and serve the country.

Post the moderator questions, the forum was open for the students and faculty to ask their questions to Dr Bedi. Some of the questions were
