REPORT OF ?Data Analysis and Visualization using Tableau?

Summary of the Event:

IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus has given the opportunity to the students of BBA (2019-22) of all Specialization to conduct a workshop on Tableau for Data Analysis &Visualization. The objective was to make students aware and understand about the importance and understanding of software tableau which make students more corporate driven with the following aspects-a) To highlight upon career opportunities in tableaub) Introduction to tableau, how it is different from excelc) Connecting tableau to different data sources, creating calculation fields, various chartsand maps for visualizing the datad) Enabling participants to create customized worksheets, dashboards & quick filters.The Workshop was inaugurated with the inspiring words of Dr. Geeti Sharma (Chairperson BBA) where she highlighted the importance of new learnings duringthe time of pandemic and told the importance of Tableau. Workshop was further continued for consecutive 3 days.Prof. Shilpa Tyagi (Assistant Professor- IT) She is a faculty in the area of Information &Technology. She is an MCA, and currently Pursuing Ph.D. in Machine learning. Her mainresearch interests are in the area of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Datavisualization in Tableau as resource person initiated the workshop by putting whole heartedefforts to let students know about the career opportunities which are associated withTableau as skillset.She quoted that data analysis and visualization is something which is a necessary for everykind of organisation and to deliver more effective resultscorporate houses expects a guyfrom management department should have a blend of managerial and data analysis skills.Learning Outcome:The workshop made students know about the basic installing of the tableau software, the different variants of software, different kinds of files with which tableau can perform its functions.Day-1 Basics of Tableau about data source, connecting data source, measurements &dimensions, an idea about sheets, dashboard, storyline. Difference in Excel &Tableau, kinds ofData.Day-2 Students were thrilled to know more about tableau and to perform more practical aspects on it, next day students get to know more about different kinds of charts and visualization toolsat tableau and how to solve different queries and analyze the effects of it on results. Formattingof tables and charts.Day-3 How to join in between different data sources and create Hierchy, Filters, Dashboard, calculated fields were the main learnings of the day with a proper assessment.After such practical workshop students were able to perform basic things on tableau and they were highly appreciated by the trainer for their responsiveness and curiosity to learn about a new skill. All the active attendees of the workshop were awarded with an E- Certificate.
