Summary of the Event-

 

The best investment one can ever make is in their environment and the best output one can ever receive is by valuing their Earth. Hence, to value the biggest asset and celebrate World Earth Day; the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus organized ‘Open Mic Competition’ on 23rd April 2021.

The event commenced with the introduction of the Earth Day. The Earth Day was founded by American senator Gaylord Nelson in the form of environmental education. This day commenced on April 22, 1970 and today more than 1 billion people in 192 countries of the world are celebrating Earth Day. Earth Day is now a global event each year; it is the largest civic-focused day of action in the world. The moderator Ms. Devanshi Sharma (student of 2nd year) acted as an essential catalyst of the entire event by engaging audience.

In the competition students quoted the saying of Mahatma Gandhi once he said that "nature has enough resources to fulfill the needs of the human being but it can't fulfill the greed of the humans".

Students also talked about the scientific innovations which are taking place around the world also the pace of environmental degradation which is increasing. 

All the participants showcased their remarkable oratory skills equipped with deep understanding of environment, earth and its importance in today’s Covid period which enlightened each and every spectator.

The event not only engaged the audience and participants but also the faculty members where Asst. Prof. Sandhya Sharma, Asst. Prof. Khursheed Alam and Asst. Prof. Anurag Singh imparted wisdom to the students on environment and the value it holds. Later, the event was summed with a vote of thanks and a concluding note of ‘Save Earth Save Us.’ Overall it was a great event to witness

 

Learning Outcome-The event was a success as all participants participated with full enthusiasm and confidence. Everyone enjoyed hearing diverse observation and developed the skill of presentation and spontaneity.
