In present scenario to stimulate the young scientific minds of a new era, School of Biosciences IMS Ghaziabad University Courses Campus embellish the virtual platform to encourage the science enthusiasts to advance and flourish in an environment by organizing an Inter Institutional Online Science fest Genesis on November 18, 2020.


Science never stopped its reach to unite us. Through Genesis we witnessed staggering amount of participation from various states across the country including Madhya Pradesh, Calcutta, Tamil Nadu, Guwahati, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Pondicherry, Uttar Pradesh and from various colleges in Delhi.


The event witnessed the gracious presence of Prof. R.C. Deka, Emeritus Professor, Delhi Pharmaceutical Science & Research University, Formerly DIPSAR, Advisor to Director, Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna and former Director AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Deka shared his beliefs and thoughts of the unbound possibilities of learning in Sciences. He addressed that such type of activities renders young aspirants into valuable interaction with peers, faculty and scientists and help them to connect with science stream in an astonishing, accessible and inspirational manner. Dr. Deka inspired young developing minds to apply sciences in an extremely inspirational manner.


This year, the virtual sessions brought beneficial insights by the experts to the young enthusiasts. Along with interactions, the innovative minds were jogged by the events like Insta think, Knock down, Sci Thinker, Scientoon, Sci Quiz.


Instathink an extempore competition cultivated the skill for impromptu speaking around the topics of health & hygiene and environment. Knock Down, an Oral Presentation competition, where students presented their thoughts on sensitive topic of Adolescent Depression and Clean Air for Blue Skies: A need for Breathable Air. Sci Thinker was an Essay Writing competition wherein the participants penned their views on topics like Managing of Plastic Waste in India and COVID-19: A World of Opportunities. Scientoon, an art of Science cartoon competition, a vivid way to express the knowledge to the world, scientific cartoon actualized by young artist had inspired many to respect the attempt of Nature ‘reclaiming’ it’s space on Earth. Whereas Sci Quiz, aimed to assess the student’s orientation towards science and its application. The questions were based on logical thoughts, general knowledge and scientific skills.


The events were evaluated by the honourable panel of judges including faculty from colleges and schools, Post doctoral researchers and our proud alumni. Dr. Anamika Tripathi, Associate Professor Hindu College Moradabad, Dr. Vineeta Sharma, Post Doctoral Fellow, NICPR, Dr. Akash Kumar Tripathi, Research Associate, NJIL ICMR, Agra, Ms. Anshika Singh, Silver Line School, Ghaziabad, Ms. Nidhi Varshney, Senior Research Fellow, National Institute of Plant Genome Research New Delhi, Dr. Mamta Singh Associate Professor, KGK College Moradabad, Ms. Shivani Nehra, SRL Diagnostics, Gurugram and Alka Bahukhandi Facilitator, DPS Ghaziabad.
Students from Alwardas Public School, Vishakhapatnam, Dehradun Public School, Ghaziabad, Mother’s Global School, Delhi, Lotus Valley International, Greater Noida, Guru Tegh Bahadur Public School and Assisi Convent School, Noida secured winning positions at school level.


Graduates and Post-Graduate participants from Sastra University, kumbakonam, Maitreyi College, University of Delhi, PSG college of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, Institute of Home Economics, Delhi University, Pandu College, Assam, Dibrugarh University, Assam, Mewar Institute of Management, Ghaziabad, Hindu College, MDU Rohtak, Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan, also secured winning positions at college level.

The fest provided a great exposure and learning experience to the students and helped them to sharpen their skills to do well in their future careers. Genesis strive to rekindle the thirst for knowledge, to bring a change by challenging perception and understand the core of Science in a revitalizing way.
